really nice peak around 1020.  Still quite readable at t/out.  All

1024- 5637.27- PERU- R. Peru, 1024 w/het but didn't appear to have
pgming yet. ÿ Think it came on about a minute or 2 later.  Peaked nicely
for ads 1052-1056 w/one mentioning Santa Rosa and 2 phone #'s given, one
mentioning Rioja, and one mentioning Avenida San Ignacio.  All seemed to
be by the same M anncr.  Some deadair, and even off at 1100 but back on
at 1104 recheck.  Terribly undermodulated and distorted. ---VALKO, Dip

sounded like exotic South East Asian vocals and drums; constantly
drifting 4603.0-4603.4. Faded down to feeble het by 1055; also there
again at 2312, but nothing readable. Nil from Laos or Vietnam listed in

surprisingly good signal, one woman talking, nothing distinctive about
the program. Parallels noted 9064 and 7440, but both much weaker
throughout the listening period. All sites presumed different as no
outlets were in sync. At 12 UT, 4 time pips with the last a higher note.

English from this transmitter site 1630 s/on to closing with national
anthem 1658, oc to 1700. Reviewed history of RNI and Fredristad site
itself, interesting background info. No surprises here, very good

BRAZIL - 4765 A mix of two Brazilians, Oct 7, 2350. Reactivation of R
Integracao confirmed, Oct 11, 1150, when concluding prgr apparently
called "Os parabens da semana" (Congrats of the week). Caught annc'ts in
the passing "pela R Integração AM e onda tropical". (H. Klemetz,
Colombia /  Dateline Bogota October 12, 1997)

COLOMBIA - 6064.5 Colmundo Bogotá is on this fqy since Sept 20 on a
somewhat irregular sked; seems genuinely interested in sw, as C.E.,
Vicente Echeverry, reported back to hq that the sw signal was coming in
loud and clear in the town of Pereira, where he was on a corporate

CYPRUS - Message from R. Bayrak to Dan Henderson: "We still plan to be
back on the air before the end of this year. You will recall our plans
to replace the 7.5 kw xmtr with a new one. This new xmtr is now being
manufactured by CCA Electronics (Fairburn, GA). Unfortunately, they are
behind the schedule for various reasons.  The installation is planned
for the end of November. Hopefully there will be no more delays. I will
keep you informed on the dates when they are definite. Regards, M.

Europe: 1215-1440 11402 13860 --- 1855-1930 7735 9275 --- To Americas:
1410-1440 and 1935-2010 11402 and 13860 --- 2300-2335 9275 and 11402.
All pxs in Icelandic. (INPR/Bob Padula, 13 Oct /EDXP # 64) .

INDONESIA - Several private and local government-run radio stations in
Indonesia are under investigation for fraud. Some stations controlled by
local governments aired commercials illegally, while the private
stations operated without permit from the ministry. Private stations
which failed to get a licence from the Information Ministry would not be
allowed or operate. The local government-run stations were set up to
transmit programs broadcast by the state-owned Radio Republik Indonesia
and to disseminate local government policies to the public,. The
respective local governments provided funding for the stations'
broadcast activities. There are 898 radio stations operating in
Indonesia's 27 provinces. Private companies own 700 of them, while
municipal government have control over 146. RRI operates 52 stations.

INDONESIA - 9565.0  RRI Jakarta, Bonto Sunggu. Relay of sports festival
at Senayan Stadium,Jakarta at 1000.News was not heard at 1000 and 1100
due to this special program. SCI was heard from 1128 to 1129. RRI
Gorontalo(3264.6kHz),RRI Ujung Pandang(4753.3kHz),and RRI Pekanbaru    
5040.0kHz) were relayed this program, but RRI Manado(3214.8kHz), RRI
Merauke(3905.0kHz),and RRI Jambi(4925.0kHz) were not relayed  
this.Programa Nasional Dua on 15150.0kHz was also not relayed this and
not heard the national news at 1000 and 1100

INDONESIA - 9565.0   RRI Jakarta,Bonto Sunggu. Relay of sports event at
Senayan Stadium, Jakarta at 1134. This program was relayed by RRI
Manado(3214.8kHz) but other RRI station was not relayed. RRI Jakarta
Programa Nasional Dua on 15150.0kHz was not relayed this. (Oct 12,
Juichi Yamada, Japan /Jembatan DX # 31)

IRAQ - At least on Oct 4 and 10, but not every day, R. Iraq Int'l
English on 11785 ran from precisely 2057 to 2157, strong but distorted
and co-channel from DW and Brazil (Brian Alexander, PA, WORLD OF RADIO
914) Also heard here Oct 14, barely a signal at first check 2015,
presumably French; 2103 English mentioned 25 meter band; talk at
2120-2136 mostly incomprehensible but kept mentioning 11785 and may have
been mailbag; 2137 ID as Baghdad, Radio Iraq International; 2142
"special program". Reception gradually improved but still awful with
rushing sound believed to be transmitted rather than interference; 2155
heterodyne came on the frequency (Glenn Hauser, OK USA / SW/DX Report
97-17, Oct 16)
