PIJPERS - Radio San Marino International was received here in The
Netherlands (19/10) with a fair signal level. Did listen for a few
minutes.
VELDHUIS - The announced test transmission from Radio San Marino
International comes in here in The Netherlands at 10:27 UTC (19/10) with
a 44444 SINPO. Frequency is 11409.9 kHz. Nice non-stop "Golden Oldies",
and some classical music. ( maybe their antenna is direct towards north
Italy & Europe...received at south of Rep. San Marino by G.Bernardini,
Chieti, with a poor / weak signal. Ed.)
ORMANDY - RNZI recently rang and asked me if I would carry on Arthur
Cushen's DX Report on their mailbag program. I considered it a great
honour to follow on from Arthur and will do my best to maintain his high
standard - though I don't know what I've let myself in for! I would be
only too happy to relay any tuning tips suitable for reception in the
South Pacific that you wish to send me. My e-mail address is <

VALKO - 18 October 1997 Went up to the Dip for a micro-DX pedition.
Got up and got started just a tad later than usual. After laying out
the 500' Beverage at 175° and 400' Beverage at 310°, I got started at
0945. It was a nice morning with no visitors and only two big dump
trucks of Coonys passing on the stripcut road. Heavy frost, clear and
only 30°!! Bundled up with lots of layers. Only my fingers got cold
towards the end. Mist rising from the pond nearby. Radio conditions
weren't too bad; about normal from LA, but Asians were poor. Solar Flux
= 88, K Index = 1, and A Index = 2.

0815- 17870- AUSTRIA- Radio Austria Int. with DX programme in German.
---BOYER, New Zealand
0824- 9552.3- INDONESIA- RRI Ujung Pandang 0824 Most likely this one
with vocal by woman, then ukelele music that could have been "Love
Ambon" and off at 0831. Extremely weak even with superb 31-meter
propagation to South East Asia this morning. S/off time fits recent
reports from Asian and Pacific Dxers. ---HILL, MA USA, Oct. 10
0907- 9565- INDONESIA- RRI Jakarta 0907 Incredibly powerful signal
with man in Indo and woman PA announer in background, perhaps a sporting
event or even an auction; // 9630 (poor) and 15150 (very poor).
Absolutely rock-solid, with hardly any flutter, and possibly the
strongest Indo I've ever heard, even when DXing from California! Still
pounding in with warta berita when rechecked just after 1000. Next day,
with geomag storm in progress, was weak and barely readable at the same
hour. ---HILL, MA USA, Oct. 10
0945- 4200.01- CUBA- R. Rebelde, 0945-1034, Nonstop LA Pops, usual nx
like pgm after 1000. Weak. Positively // to 5025. Since first
hearing this, I had a bit of doubt in the deep recesses about this being
a Bolivian. Stays in too late for a Bolivian, and the pgming is a
little more professional and tight. Plus, the freq has harmonic written
all over it!! So it must be the 8 X 600 harmonic. ---VALKO, Dip for a
micro-DX pedition USA 18 Oct.
0949- 4864.42- BOLIVIA- R. Diez y Seis de Marzo, 0949-1025, instru. CP
mx, piano prominent. 0958 full canned ID anmnt by M w/SW freq, pgm
intro by M at 0959 followed by live M w/morning greetings. LA Pops and
M anncr, 2 quick IDs again at 1005. Fairly strong but low modulation.
Still barely copiable at 1020, but down too low by 1025 although still
there. ---VALKO, USA 10 Oct.
0958- 7215- NORWAY- UKE Senderen, Trondheim, 0958-1200, (presumed),
Interval signal sounding like tinkling bells, announcements in Norwegian
and again IS at 1010 and apparent sh/down. Back later: 1057 again IS,
talk and much rockmusic. Timepips first time I heard these- at 1200. No
ID heard, just a tentative Trondheim. Weak signal with some peaks. On
the air from Oct 10 till Nov 2. --- PIJPERS, The Netherlands Oct 17
1000- 11735- INDIA- AIR GOS *1000 Into English on this freq, which
isn't listed in IBB or new PWBR; fair here and on //s 15050 and 17387.
Very early for India to be propagating on 19 and (especially) 16 meters.
---HILL, MA USA, Oct. 11
1002- 3284.04- PERU- Estacion Wari, 1002-1030, Canned s/on anmnt by
alternating Mÿ and W ending w/possible ID. Live M briefly, into soft OA
mx. Somewhat long tlk by M. M again over piano mx at 1018 w/ments of
Santa Maria, radio, Cusco, sev. phone #'s, and at least 2 ments of
Wari. Accurate TC and song anmnt. Finally a nice ID at 1025. Started
fading by 1030. Someÿ slop QRM at times from Napo below. Slowly
drifted up to 3284.08 by t/out. ---VALKO, Dip for a micro-DX pedition
