Re: [IRCA] Visit from Gary

Hello Patrick,

It was certainly our pleasure to visit your excellent DXing residence this afternoon, and see your latest antenna improvements. Your knowledge of the TP stations on each frequency is awesome, and of course there are very few DXers with as many international QSLs as you possess in your impressive collection.

The NW Oregon ocean coast certainly provides all the DXing thrills that anyone could possibly want, and we are fortunate to have such a DXing expert to answer any questions that we may have (as we push our transoceanic luck on bizarre cliff top spots overlooking the ocean). We plan to be back next summer at Cannon Beach, and will look forward to tracking you down then!

73, Gary and Danny

Subject: Visit from Gary

I had a great visit from Gary DeBock and his son today. His new Ferrite
loop is amazing. He hooked it up in the backyard and I grabbed a
portable nd sat it next to the loop and not bad, on stations to the
East, KXLX-700 and KBOI-670 were weak but audible Mid afternoon. The
1500' beverage was better, but Gary's loop was probably 60-70% of the
signal on the beverage.
Anyway, after they left, I got looking at my NW EWE I just rehooked
back up and I found I could move the SE leg of it abit farther out to
make it make 5-10 degrees more to the NW. I think I can do it again,
after checked it again, but every little bit helps. It may improve my
chances of logging some of the few Alaskan's I am still missing like
KIYU-910 and KNSA-930.
Thanks Gary for the great visit!

73,

Patrick
