Re: [IRCA] Oregon Beach DXpedition

Gary, a few miles sure seems to make a big difference.  I recall down at Canon Beach DXing during a July week holiday a couple of years back, and being very impressed with the amount of DU dx audible only using my Sony 2010 and built in whip.  Seems to me that the further north we go along the coast, the more difficult the DU DX, and of course conversely the more Asian DX which pours in.  In Masset in late June/early July there were mornings of decent DU reception, but nothing like you were hearing in Oregon.  Then again, as I type this, I'm enjoying some Perseus files from 3January at 01:00 this year from Masset, and have been blown away with the number of Iranian transmitters carrying the 1st program, so easy to locate parallels!  Then there's Saudi Arabia 1440 way over anything domestic.  Don't mention Radio Farda pegging the meter on 1575! Radio Sawa likewise on 1431 from Djibouti.  Bottom line, wherever we listen from, there can be some pretty interesting programming to DX, domestic or foreign........Walt Salmaniw,Victoria.
