Re: [IRCA] Sunset DX during June

WKKQ-1060 Hibbing was a one-time only log here in East Tennessee many moons ago. Monday morning April 11, 1977, there was a forest fire watch in effect for the area and WKKQ was on all night. They'd recently had a power upgrade from 1 to 5 kw, and, with KYW off for their regular Monday silent period, WKKQ pretty well enjoyed a clear channel and was putting in a good signal. When the clears were broken up in the 80's, WKKQ morphed into Nashwauk-650.

Todd,

Hey, glad to help. Nice to know somebody reads my old stuff. 1060 used to be a nice sunset frequency from Galva as the only daytimers I had were both very weak....KFIL in Preston MN & KNLV Ord NE. Believe WKKQ had 10 kw so they popped in every so often at sunset. Always loved to hear those stations from northern Minnesota.
