[IRCA] Puyallup, WA (very) Early TP's for 12-29

Hello All,

Thanks to Nick for his sunrise TP report this morning.

Alerted by some decent East Coast receptions of TA's last night, a check of
the TP conditions was made at 0945 early this morning (0145 local time),
and to my surprise, the Japanese and Korean "big guns" had the best TP
signals heard here for the last three weeks. 594-JOAK, 747-JOIB and 972-HLCA
all were pretty vibrant, including this recording made of 972-HLCA using the
newly created 7.5" loopstick Tecsun PL-380 (assisted by a 3' bedside PVC
loop): _http://www.mediafire.com/?v1kmv4whwzb_

Some testing was done by shifting the newly modified PL-380's tuned
frequency up to 973 kHz during the reception of 972-HLCA, to remove the 2 kHz
heterodyne, and get further away from the 970 domestic splatter. This was very
effective, as shown in this short recording where the frequency was shifted
to 973 kHz at the three second point:

The same trick has been tried with the Tecsun PL-310 model, but
unfortunately the "soft mute" issue greatly reduces the DX station's signal strength
when the frequency is shifted 1 kHz away, making the procedure
counterproductive. For this reason, the new PL-380 really is a significant improvement
over the PL-310 for ULR transoceanic DXers.
