[IRCA] TP for 8 Nov from Victoria, BC

Listened for about an hour from 1420 today, and although there was a sunrise enhancement as John observed, in my case it was compared with a pronounced dip around 1445, and seemed due quite a lot to the fading of domestic splatter rather than a significant increase in signal strength.

As Nigel noted, it was more a Japanese morning. Generally, I'd also say it was a poorer morning than the last few; the more consistent stations outside of the big guns tended to be at mumble level. So, DXing was of the hard grind school, listening mostly to splatter, but it did yield one new one, JOGK-756 //594.

And, 648 is on past 1500UT, but was at the mumble level with a RR sound to it?

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK
774 JOUB, something underneath
828 JOBB

reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker,
though often battling w/splash or noise):

279 R. Rossii
738 woman in CC at 1503, no luck w/possible 1143 parallel; then a second station took over as things faded down
972 HLCA
1161 CC talk 1456, only brief, and in the murk by the hour; Taiwan?
1242 JOLF at 1455

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker

567 JOIK //594
603 soft mx, couldn't get 558 //
693 JOAB //828; CBU-690 playing quiet mx at the time to minimize splatter
711 seemed KK; HLKA
873 JOGB //828
936 Anhui w/CC talk, later, big carrier
1134 KBS //972
1503 JOUK //594 at 1452
1575 VoA

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

153 and 189 seemed //279, R. Rosii
558 not up to much today
585 JOPG //594
612 possibly 4QR, as mx not heard on N. Flag, just west one
621 big hum, little audio; after 1500UT
639 seemed //5030, so CNR-1
648 RR sounding talk after 1500
666 JOBK //594 not until later
675 later; unreadable talk
756 JOGK //594 briefly on top of murk
801 CC sounding talk by woman at 1500
846 NHK1 synchros //594
963 RR inflected talk likely CRI
1206 rough audio likely Yanbian
1566 huge carrier, tiny audio
1593 seemed //5030 so CNR-1

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

864....wonder who this powerhouse is? It's pretty regular, but any audio is way down.

best wishes,

Nick
