[IRCA] TP for 28Sep08 better

I'm with Colin. Things have picked up nicely here with the strong stations really strong this morning, and a few surprises. Monitored between 12:58 and 14:15. SF 67, A 2, K 1. No DU enhancement heard at all today, and a sudden abrupt drop off in signal strength around 14:18. The JJ were especially in well today, many at armchair level. Also spent the majority of time on the lower half....seemed much more active there. Here are my audio results, with 6 unless otherwise noted:

279: 7
525: ICW strong this morning with 8 level.
529: SQM at 9
567: 9 level at 13:52 JOIK. 8 level earlier at 13:07
576: Russian at 8 level
594: JOAK at 9, and still very strong at 14:16, then abruptly dropped off.
648: presumed Russian transmitter at 7
657: North Korean at 8+ level. Strong, but muddy audio. Weak cochannel too at 13:31.
666: JOBK at 8 level
675
711: KBS1, but ruined by strong adjacent splatter at 8 level.
738: 8 level at 13:41 ?HLKG, // 711 but later ? JJ and weak cochannel.
747: 9 level NHK2
756, 765
774: 9+ level NHK2 at 13:48 and again at 14:17 before dropping off.
783
828: 8 level NHK2 at 13:51
837: mostly IBOC, but JOQK at 8 level at 13:53
846: my highlight with NHK1 programming at 8 level around 13:53....only low power translators of 0.1 to 5 kw in PAL.
855: North Korea at 7. Usual low modulation.
873
918: 8 level with pres Shandong at 13:56
945
963: Another star performer with 9+ audio at 13:57 CRI Russian. There is a cochannel at 14:00 heard, though weakly.
972: Another 9 level S.Korea
1017: 8.5 level strong station. Not JOLB (like John heard yesterday), so presumed CRI at 14:03
1098: There definitely is some audio hear at 14:04, but too weak for me to ID.
1116
1134: 7 level, but too much splatter around 14:05.
1188
1242: JOLF at 8
1269
1278: 7 level.
1287, 1404, 1503 (DU)
1566: HLAZ at 14:11 at 7 level.
1575: VOA at 7 level.
1701: X band mostly dead this past week. Only 1701 present today at 4 level.

That's it for this morning. I'm glad to see some really strong signals which were not there yesterday....good for the ULR guys. I can just picture Colin hanging off of his balcony, radio in hand!.....Be careful up there, Colin! Good DX to all from a cool Victoria, but with the sun shining and very blue skies! .....Walt.
