Hi Patrick, They are pretty noisy and put out birdies and noise on 
the MW band so I turn them off while DXing. Even a top brand like APC 
uses square wave or modified square wave power in all but their 
business or industrial top line units (The Smart UPS is one of the 
series). You want true 60 hz full sine wave power and in UPS' that 
can get pretty expensive!
