I have found that the case with most DVD burners. They last a year. I am
back using my Lite On 5005 as it records CDs & DVDs and it does ok. The
DVD burns are not too strong, so if it is something I want to keep, I
make a copy on the computer. The Pioneer stand alone burner lasted 14
months. The drive quit recording. Pioneer wants $180.14 for a new drive.
I only paid $179.95 for the whole unit. So much junk on the market now.
