I believe you Bill!  In 50 years of dxing from Northern California I have never heard a peep from CHQB Powell River B.C.   Back in the 60-70s we had much less clutter on the frequency and
sometimes it was open but nary a sign of CHQB.  I remember the BC station on 1270 used to run CBC all night show & be the only one on the frequency & they were very weak (usually)  down here.
I'd say my best B.C. catch was CFTK in Terrace on 590.  This was on a DX Test & somehow they got through.  Never could figure out why I couldn't/didn't hear the Anchorage 5 kwer on 590, heard
11 other Alaskans but never heard a whisper out of Anchorage.
