[IRCA] TP 20 Oct Victoria version.

Not as strong as yesterday, but still pretty interesting. A bit more DU action. In some places, quite different from Colin's description, with things like 801 and 1368 delivering audio there, things feel definitely undernourished here.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK man in Japanese 1417UT

612 4QR man and woman in DU English //702 1429UT

747 JOIB English lessons 1402UT

774 JOUB Japanese woman, mentioning NHK 1424-5UT

828 JOBB probably there somewhere, but didn't note it.

873 JOGB English lessons 1411UT

972 HLCA not usually this strong today, but man in Korean 1409UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

576 2RN interview with professor of computer science //585 1426UT

585 7RN man talking about Australian rugby //621 1403UT

756 woman in DU English likely RNZ National 1419UT

945 CNR1 woman in Chinese 1412UT

954 JOKR man and woman in Japanese 1436UT

1242 JOLF man in Japanese 1437UT north Flag was better

1287 JOHR two men in Japanese 1416UT

1566 HLAZ man in Chinese 1418UT, fading under quiet vocal music, not sure which was HLAZ and which interference

1575 woman mentioning "V-O-A" 1413UT, SE Asian language

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

567 JOIK several times at this level today, but not much zip

603 HLSA female ballad //558 1412UT

666 JOBK man and woman talking //594 1415UT

693 JOAB several times at this level, but not much zip today

702 2BL man and woman talking // 612 1429UT

729 JOCK briefly slipped through splatter at this level //594 1402UT

819 N. Korea NHK style pips (who?) mixing with N. Korean ones ; woman in Korean 1400UT

864 HLKR man in Korean 1401UT

1089 JOHB English lessons //774 1413UT, fading under soft music (CNR6)

1134 KBS likely man in Korean 1402UT, had been one short and one long pip on the hour; likely JOQR underneath

1143 woman in Chinese, likely Taiwan 1415UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

531 choral music with an island flavor 1417UT, only on west Flag

594 man talking DU English intonation u/JOAK, assumed 3WV but no parallels 1416UT

621 3RN man talking //585 1403UT

639 Chinese pips and NHK pips mixed together, sounded like Beijing time check 1400UT

657 man in Korean perhaps 1406UT

675 man talking DU English intonaion; sporting event 1406UT

711 relaxed female vocal 1402UT

792 woman talking DU English intonation 1426UT, not //576, as daylight time in place now in Australia

837 JOQK man talking //846 1401UT

846 NHK1 man talking //594 1401UT

891 JOHK woman talking //594 1421UT

1017 woman talking, with an island flavor 1414UT, Tonga?

1044 man and woman Japanese intonation 1411UT, likely CRI

1053 JOAR? pretty sure I heard woman say "CBC rajio" and single long pip 1400UT

1188 JOKP man talking //594 1407UT

1323 woman talking Russian intonation 1406UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

   855 909 936 981 999 1008 1026 1098    1179  1215 1269 1305  1314  1332 1386 1422 1503 1593      seemed to be Asian;
882 909 1548 seemed to be DU

best wishes,

Nick
