Re: [IRCA] Tonite's Nice SSS DX amd cx

Pat:

No kidding about KSL being rough getting around. For the longest
time, KSL was the only station I heard on 1160 in both Spokane and
Utah. I tried for years to pick up Chicago WJJD under KSL, and
finally heard them one time in Spokane. I had a tentative reception
of WJJD once on an eastward beverage out in the Utah desert.

Do you remember the tourist station from Cuba? They broadcast in
English, and I believe the name of the station was Radio Taino, if my
memory serves me. I heard them in both Spokane and Utah (Yes in Utah
about 30 miles from KSL). I spoke with the CE at KSL about it, and
he was concerned about the impact the station would have on their
nighttime coverage.

Here in Maryland it is a different matter. I heard KSL almost
every night over 20 years ago. It was more unusual in mid-winter to
not hear them. Now, I have not heard them since I got back to
Maryland over 8 years ago. The channel is cluttered with over a
dozen stations and none of them seem to dominate. WMET is not heard
usually at night and in the daytime, I can null them out and pick up
three or four other stations, even though they are only 27 miles
away. But alas, no KSL. I would love to hear them again as a
welcome friend with whom I had lost contact for many years.
