[IRCA] Re: WBT wipes out KFAB

It's too bad the FCC doesn't care whether stations run day power and pattern at night. The more they ignore it (like they do all the bad stuff going on in the ham radio bands) the more frequent it will become. Stations where ethics aren't that important may realize if they get caught they'll just get a warning. KURS-1040 in San Diego talked their way out of a $20,000 fine for running day power at night after they'd been already been warned once!!

WBT uses 50 kW ND when they're having problems with their nighttime DA system, or when a hurricane is threatening the North Carolina coast (despite their being inland from the Outer Banks). I caught WBT on 50 kW ND in 1983, and called the station!
