Re: [IRCA] dx 1/2/05

A group of us Bay Area IRCAns had a DXpedition out there around 1980... I remember that it was foggy, cold and damp, and the rangers weren't happy to have us around. We moved to the coast near Ano Nuevo, south of Half Moon Bay. There was a spot along Highway 1 where you could run several beverages at different angles for great reception from Japan, Australia and the like, and it was quiet. It was also closer, and much easier to get to. Some great receptions there-- like Fiji under KGO-810. But we haven't organized any coastal forays in a number of years.

Don,

730 is "Mojoradio" from Vancouver. They seem to be pretty strong tonight, as is CKMX/1060/Calgary. Eastern signals seem to be pretty dead tonight...no hints of WHO, WBAP or WOAI. Two of three are usually in here decently, while WBAP is usually pretty weak. It seems like a good time to put on a movie.

I spent the day today in Point Reyes. If you don't mind the potential of an antenna slipping off the edge of the world when the big one hits, it seems like a great place to put a beverage.
