Headphone listening -- and years of it from AGE 13 on made me the border
line hearing impaired person I am...

Thank you tropical band static crashes!

Now if I cannot hear the DX with just  the radio speakers, I don't both
chasing it -- that said, when I am in Hawaii,
I DX with buds or noise cancelling headphones -- to mask the surf!
