According to a lengthy French post on their Facebook page 
(https://www.facebook.com/Radio-Shalom-Montreal-1650-AM-Officiel-160946433934508/?fref=nf), 
Radio Shalom is set to sign off on Friday, April 1 at exactly 6 PM.

Originally available on the former FM subcarrier radio service at 92.3 
FM, Radio Shalom moved to its current home on 1650 AM back in 2006. The 
station served Montreal's Jewish community with music, news and 
spoken-word programming in English, French, Hebrew and occasionally 
Yiddish.

During the Sabbath and Jewish holidays, CJRS ran a brokered format known 
as Radio CMM (Communications Michel Mathieu) / CKZW, playing French 
gospel music.

I was a volunteer at Radio Shalom from shortly after its launch on AM 
1650 to September 2012, when I moved to Toronto. I served in a variety 
of roles, including newsreader, commercial writer and call screener, in 
addition to being an on-air contributor for The Howie Silbiger Show, a 
popular talk show that s since moved online.

I first discovered the station during its testing phase; a phone number 
was given out on-air to report signal and interference issues. When I 
called it, I was answered by none other than Michel Mathieu himself. He 
told me what was to launch on AM 1650, and that piqued my interest. 
Mathieu helped get Radio Shalom on the air, performed engineering 
duties, and even hosted a bilingual oldies music program on Saturday 
evenings.

After just about a decade on the air, it's sad to hear this news, but 
unfortunately, it was inevitable. The station had been experiencing 
significant financial issues for a long time, and Robert Levy, the 
brainchild of the format, felt it was time to pull the plug.
