[IRCA] TP 2 Feb Victoria version
An early appointment meant no live listening for me this morning
which was a pity, as the NetSDR recording says that the band had
quite a nice little conniption between about 1510 and 1530UT. Some
pretty erratic displays of signal, mostly at the middling to upper
end of the band, but some lower also.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
not quite actually; quantity of stations rather than one or two at
good strength was the watchword today.
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
558 HLQH surprise of the morning with soulful female vocal //603,
peaking 1520-2UT
594 JOAK NHK1 theme music //1503, 1510UT
774 JOUB man in Japanese 1352UT, back for another round at 1512UT
w/English lessons, different from the usual format, as it was a
Japanese man struggling to pronounce English. When our CBC starts
to produce language lessons, I'll know that something very strange
and wonderful has happened indeed.
1422 unID slow female vocal, almost Spanish sounding 1520UT and a little later
1566 HLAZ man in Chinese 1350UT, but also came into its own around 1523UT also
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
972 HLCA woman in Korean 1351UT
1242 JOLF man with lively Japanese talk 1519UT
1593 CNR1 man and woman in Chinese 1410UT
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music)
603 HLSA big carrier but tiny audio 1522UT, vocal music //558; has
this gone undermodulated? It used to be quite the opposite
612 man talking, but not //594, and didn't really sound DU English
either 1522UT
747 man and woman talking 1512UT //774
828 JOBB man and woman, English lessons //774 1201UT, but no sign later
1134 man talking 1508UT, too splashy to guess language
1206 man mumbling in the hum 1517UT
1386 NHK2 synchros man in Japanese //774 1525UT
1503 JOUK traces of NHK1 theme music //594 1510UT
1575 woman talking, SE Asian language? 1358UT but nothing later
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter)
738 1098 1143 1269 1287 1314 1323 1332
best wishes,
Nick
