Re: [IRCA] Western Shore NS 30 Nov 2015

Michael,

The RNE stations (as well as the COPE and SER stations), give local ID's during their short bits of local programming scheduled several times during the day. Boel's EMWG guide lists the local and regional programming breaks; the WRTH may also do this but I can't recall for sure, and I don't have my copy with me. I see that the MWList also shows local programming breaks. Two of the better times when RNE has local programs are at 0625 and 0650 UTC. This is the best way to truly know which one or two regional stations that you are hearing on a channel. For RNE, the format is common to all stations: at the start of the 5 or 10 minute block, there is a short bit of their theme music followed by the local ID such as "Radio Nacional de Espana......., Galicia" (or whichever region the broadcast is from).

>From Newfoundland, we have heard many (most?) of the RNE regional stations, sometimes even hearing 2 local ID's on the same channel.

Hope that helps.
