[IRCA] TP 15 Aug Victoria version

It was probably a good morning on the coast for Down Unders. Lots of carriers, many on the edge of audio, some audio as well. Low band stations until about 1230UT, then about 10 minutes later the upper band started replacing those, though 612 held in until nearly 1310UT. So, sorry Nigel, guess I snaffled the DX before it got to Alberta.

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

738 Tahiti assumed, Caribbean sounding pop 1223UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

612 4QR first noted 1139UT, ABC fanfare 1200UT, better fanfare and "ABC news" at 1300UT
756 RNZ woman in DU English, mention of Radio New Zealand 1216UT
1503 R. Sport started to get readable with (what else) sports broadcast (Barclays Premier League apparently), about 1250UT, mentions of "Southampton corner" and "second half" nicely aligning with the archived broadcast at http://content.radionetwork.co.nz/weekondemand/radiosport/10045.mp3

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

531 woman talking 1146UT
567 RNZ female vocal //819 at 1123-4UT
819 RNZ //567, peaked at 1125UT, but still pretty weak in 820 splash.
702 2BL 6 pips, ABC fanfare at 1200UT
774 man in DU English? sports broadcast? 1134UT
1116 4BC? man in DU English? 1156UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

576 594 603 675 747 792 828 837 855 882 891 1008 1026 1035 1107 1224 1386 1404 1458 1548 1557 1566 1575 1593

best wishes,

Nick
