Hi Brian,
Â
Thanks again for posting your 1566 and 1593 recordings from Arizona.
Â
Your 1566 recording at 1340 is that of HLAZ's Japanese service, at a fairly good level. The 1593 recording is somewhat weaker,Âand that frequency can sometimes be tricky, with either CNR1 or the 10 kW Japanese NHK2 stations showing up on the frequency (or both). To make matters more interesting, the Japanese NHK2 stations sometimesÂbroadcast Chinese lessons, so you might end up with either station broadcasting in Chinese. Unless you are familiar with the CNR1 format (or at least the announcers' voices), it's probably best to check one of the CNR1 shortwave parallels (like 6125 kHz) to confirm the identity of a weakÂstation on 1593. It's interesting (and kind of unusual) to hear TP-DXing MP3's recorded in Arizona, which is pretty far removed from the concentrated group of local DXers here around western WA/ BC. Thanks for posting the MP3's!

First, I screwed up the times, that should have been 6:30-6:45am
(1330-1345UT) with sunrise at 1353UT. ÂAnd, I've posted a couple quick
audio snippets of 1566 and 1593 at 1340UT. ÂNot necessarily the very best
for either, but a representative "look" for the interval. ÂI'm not sure if
I'll get a chance to do a more complete report or not:
