[IRCA] Four new ULR stations, 4/3/14 & 4/4/14

The past two mornings I've heard four new stations on a barefoot Sangean DT-400W ultralight receiver.

Thursday, 4/3/14
890 kHz KJME, Fountain CO (5 kW@ 675 km/419 mi). As WLS was fading out, KJME faded in at 1239 GMT with a variety of music, including jazz, oldies and
country. ID "890 KJME" at 1317. The signal varied between barely audible and fair, fading away at 1320. QRM: KTLR, Oklahoma City OK (1 kW @ 91 km/56
mi). ULR station #1033 (barefoot #1019).

890 kHz KGGN, Gladstone MO (960 W @ 407 km/253 mi). Gospel music (parallel internet stream) at 1309, fading out at 1311. Man preaching a sermon at
1321-1329. Gospel music at 1330 followed by a barely audible man talking at 1333. QRM: KLTR. ULR station #1034 (barefoot #1020).

Friday, 4/4/14
840 kHz KWDF, Ball LA (8 kW at 721 km/448 mi). Heard at 1223-1238 GMT with a pastor preaching a sermon. Station ID interrupted sermon at 1230: "Christian
Radio for central Louisiana, KWDF, Ball-Alexandria-Pineville". Fair signal strength with occasional QRM from KTIC, West Point NE. ULR station #1035 (barefoot
#1021).

980 kHz KMIN, Grants NM (5kW at 951 km/591 mi). Country music was heard at 1304 GMT. Station ID "Playing you favorite country music from today and
yesterday, this is KMIN, 980 AM and 96.7 FM" at 1304, followed by DJ talking until 1310, then country music before fading out. Signal strength peaked to fair at
1304. ULR station #1036 (barefoot #1022).

The little Sangean is an excellent ultralight receiver - good sensitivity and very easy to use. For domestic DX-ing it's the perfect companion to my favorite ULR,
the Sony SRF-T615. Like the Sony, it has better audio than my Tecsun DSL receivers. Plus, it has a NOAA weather band that works very well. I highly
recommend the DT-400W, especially to those of you living in storm prone areas.

Good DX all.

Richard.
