[IRCA] TP DX in Seattle on March 31



A few stations managed to put in good signals today. The low band was relatively quiet, and peaked about an hour before sunrise. The high band peaked at sunrise, but 1557 and 1566 were the only ones making a good showing. Some of the usual Alaskans were audible, with KFQD making its best appearance in several weeks.

GOOD
747 JOIB, 1220 briefly good with English lesson: "tomorrow is the first day of school", "7 p.m.?! Oh no!", etc 750 KFQD, jingle ID 1300 then CBS news mixing with KXTG. 1306 very dominant with local PSA, then AM/FM ID & local news. Clip posted at

850 KICY (tentative), "Truth For Life" religious program way atop KHHO for a few minutes 1253, gone by 1300. Matches program sched posted on KICY website. 890 KBBI (tentative), BBC news program atop CJDC for a few minutes around 1245
972    HLCA, peaking early at 1308 with Korean conversation by man & woman
1557 Taiwan, vocal music, then series of short announcements in Chinese 1330 1566 HLAZ 1312, vocal music, then woman in Japanese with a couple of "FEBC" IDs


FAIR
670 KDLG, tentative with BBC WS program mixing with KBOI 1200, no ID heard at ToH
774    JOUB, English lesson 1222 weaker than //747


POOR
693    JOAB, 1218 English lesson //747
828    JOBB, 1223 English lesson //747 etc
945    A few syllables of Chinese female talk 1258, much KJR splatter
981 CNR1, talk recognizable as Chinese 1229, two distinctive pips marking the BoH, much CKNW splatter

1206 Yanbian, 1311 woman & man talking on 1205.96, Korean-like inflections
1377    bits of talk 1330, too much KRKO splat to tell more
1512    1326 bits of music
1593 Occasional syllables of talk in KLFE splatter 1314, sounded like Chinese
