No WKAL here just north of NYC.
I did hear the 1720 pirate.
What an odd frequency to pick.
If they used 1710 (like everyone else) people would have heard them a lot more.

Not heard here at the 0100 ELT test, but was heard twice during the evening, at 2302 ELT and 0001 ELT. Both receptions were faint, as you might imagine, but the 2302 was the slightly stronger of the two. Thank goodness for Morse Code, because it's the ONLY way I would have ever heard WKAL. Easily my best catch on MW from any QTH since getting the March 6, 1995 DX test of WKBR-1250 in New Hampshire while I was living in Iowa City. THANK YOU, BOB CARTER! :)

Much stronger at 0100 than at 2300.

Eighth most distant graveyarder here, and bumps CHUC as farthest 1450.
My only other New York graveyarder was WJTN-1240 Jamestown (about as close to here as you can get and still be in NY), a one-time only log from March of 1973.
WFNY-1440 NY was my 199th newie courtesy of a DX test, way back in March 2011. #200 at last!
Thanks to Bob Carter and everyone else who made this possible.

Looks like the code is only being run at TOH... there was none at 2230,
but it's back strongly at 2300. It seems to run for about 6.5 minutes. Barry --
