I wouldn't recommend that method, as the sound quality is never as good via a small microphone - even a decent quality one - as it is via direct connection. Although I use an mp3 recorder if I'm DX'ing in the car, there's a definite difference in clarity of the resulting audio. A mike will also pick up unwanted other sound.
