[IRCA] TP Oct 6, 2012 / Victoria version

Rather late, but it was a busy day after the morning's DX session. The session was a little odd, in that there weren't a lot of strong signals, and a couple of the CNR1 stations were at similar levels to some of the big Japanese guns at certain times. Yes, some Chinese were doing well, but the Japanese were doing more poorly to even things out. But maybe the Japanese were doing well earlier than 1335UT when I started listening. One certainly did OK later, as I was able to hear JOBB's s/off chimes at 1443UT, weak, but there. And HLCA was strong enough at 1445 to hear man in KK (local sunrise is around 1420UT right now, so definitely post sunrise receptions). These receptions are in spite of a new source of local noise that kicks in about 1410UT these mornings, lasting only about an hour or so, but enough to blanket any late enhancements.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

594 JOAK JJ man talking 1358UT
747 JOIB JJ talk 1408UT

reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

639 CNR-1, seemed to be two stations here at 1407UT, one was //6125, woman talking in CC
774 JOUB man talking JJ 1358UT
873 JOGB JJ man talking //828, and stronger at this time
972 HLCA man in KK 1409UT
1053 KK jammer 1401UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be
understood by a native speaker:

567 JOIK man speaking rapidly in JJ //594 at 1412UT
828 JOBB man in JJ 1402UT
891 JOHK man in JJ //594 1403UT
1242 JOLF woman in JJ 1410UT
1287 JOHR man in JJ 1412UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

918 woman talking up to 1400UT, but could hear only one long pip
936 mumbles, probably by a woman, but quite murky
1017 CRI chimes and fanfare heard very weakly 1400UT

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

603 846 864 1098

best wishes,

Nick
