[IRCA] TP's & DU's for Thursday, 09-06-2012

Only two Russian long waves this morning. Asian stations were weaker than usual, with the best signal on Medium wave being fair. First DU station on pop up was a tentative 2BL on 702. 5AN 891 managed a fair signal with little splatter from the Idaho station. No DU's heard above 1116. Previous weeks the X-band DU's were active and no much on the lower channels. At least the ABC's are easier to ID with the live streams than the X-band stations. Fun morning. Listened from 1152-1350 utc.  


180     RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1202 fair signal with man in Russian. 

279     RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1203 weak signal with man in Russian. Only Radio Rossii station being heard at 1236 with weak signal.

594     JAPAN, JOAK NHK1 1308 fair signal with man in Japanese. Moderate splatter. 

702     AUSTRALIA, 2BL ABC 1238-1242 assuming the station with weak in and out signal with man in accented DU voice. Moderate splatter. SW ewe. 1249 very weak signal briefly with talk. 

738     AUSTRALIA, 2NR? 1338-1339 weak signal in English. SW ewe. No sign of Radio Polynesie. 

774     JAPAN, JOUB NHK2 1152 fair signal with man in Japanese and moderate splatter. NW ewe.

792     AUSTRALIA, 4RN ABC National 1313-1316 weak in and out signal, believed to be the station with man in English. Program seemed to matched the ABC National stream with "Book Reading". 

828     JAPAN, JOBB NHK2 1153 fair signal with man in Japanese and slight splatter. NW ewe.

873     AUSTRALIA,? 1336 poor signal strength with talk. Sounded like English? Best on SW ewe. 2GB?

891     AUSTRALIA, 5AN 1319 weak signal with hardly any splatter. "Nightlife" program matched the 891 live ABC stream. Best on High Performance Active whip. Nearly fair at 1324 talking about password security. No sign of 4TAB.

972     REPUBLIC OF KOREA, HLCA 1156 weak signal with man in Korean? Followed by song. Moderate splatter from KUFO. Signal faded out at 1200 utc. 

1053    REPUBLIC OF KOREA, 1224-1226 fair signal and no trace of the DPRK's station. Signal better on SW ewe with less splatter.

1116    AUSTRALIA, 3AK 1329-1332 weak signal with two men talking about sports betting and odds on their plays. Moderate splatter.

1287    JAPAN, JOHR 1245-1246 weak to fair signal on NW & SW ewe. Woman/man in Japanese. Moderate splatter from domestics.  

1566    REPUBLIC OF KOREA, HLAZ 1230 good signal with man in Japanese. Equal on NW & SW ewe. Still around at 1343 with organ music.

1575    THAILAND, VOA 1231 weak signal with man in Lao(PALs). Bill Clinton excerpts for DNC convention. Soon faded out.
