Re: [IRCA] TP's & DU's for Sunday, August 19, 2012 /Victoria version

Asiatics early and DUs later would describe things here also. I'd guess that the Asiatic peak was around 1240UT, and the DU peak pretty much right at 1300UT. I'm beginning to think my standard size Flag is a little underpowered at the low end of the band. What size are your Ewes Dennis?

Most audios were still in the "barely there" category, but there were quite a few this morning.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

none

reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

1548 4QD "ABC national news" by woman after fanfare at 1300UT slipped through the 1550 splash. Big carrier from about 1250UT, with audio snippets

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be
understood by a native speaker

1053 If you spoke "jamming", you'd recognized what this was trying to say, at least occasionally; at 1223UT 1566 HLAZ. Although there were audio traces before 1230UT pattern change, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" music easily recognizable just after 1230, with occasional JJ words slipping through.

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

774 JOUB likely at 1242UT, w/ JJ inflected talk by woman seemed // with even weaker 828.
1134 woman talking, maybe JJ inflection, but really couldn't say
1287 JOHR? JJ inflected talk by woman after vocal mx.
1503 DU accented talk by man 1259UT
1539 sounded like DU accented talk by man at 1300
1566 DU inflected talk by man at 1302UT
1701 maybe two stations? Sounded like mx, and woman talking at same time

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

972 1220-1245 at various times, HLCA struggling to be heard?

best wishes,

Nick

Mixed bag of TP's early and DU's latter around sunrise. DU's faded earlier than the past mornings. Again no ID's on the DU;s, so just guessing on the calls. Probably a good morning on the Cliffs of Oregon. Listened from 1142-1333.
