Re: [IRCA] TPDX monday 8/6

Hi Derek,

After listening to your TP-DX recordings, I can suggest the identity of at least two of the stations. 792 and 846 are probably 4RN (an Australian big gun) and 2RN, respectfully. This is exactly the type of music that the Aussie RN network would play, and the two stations have parallel programming (you might have noticed that the music sounds very similar on the two recordings, if not identical).

The 765 kHz recording is a little trickier, since the music doesn't seem to have a distinctly Island-type of flavor (that would indicate Radio Kahungunu in New Zealand, although that station does play a diverse variety of music). The Australian 2EC in Bega seems to be the DU most often heard on this frequency, although experts like Bruce and Chuck certainly know more about its programming than me. The 2.5 kW Radio Kahungunu station in NZ was not only heard with good signals during my recent Cape Perpetua (OR) trip, but also by Bill Whitaker during his recent trips to Grayland, WA and Florence, OR.-- so it's a distinct possibility.

73, Gary DeBock
