Walt,
Nice going with the DX South of Cannon Beach. That's the place I DX from.
I'm assuming the radio was barefoot? I used my eton E100 and a space magnet loop
along with my laptop to record the stations. Have fun on your travels Walt.
Best regards,
Dennis,
Kalama, WA

Dennis, I arose early this morning at Cannon Beach, OR to DX from the
highway turn-off immediately south of the town. All I had was my Tecsun
PL-380 modified receiver. I began listening from 05:30 local (12:30 UTC)
through past 13:30 UTC. I don't really have anything to compare to, so
your observations are helpful. Mostly, what was heard was in the lower
half of the band, and kind of disappointing. In any case, here's what was
heard:
567: English programming at fair level. Presumed RNZ National. at about
12:40 UTC
621: hoping for Tuvalu, but just a loud het heard here.
657: probably North Korea with weak talk
702: weak talk, probably 2BL Sydney.
747: NHK2 well heard, with // 774 (exc) and 828 (good) between 12:55 and
13:20 UTC
940: KKNE Hawaii. My favourite Hawaiian with all Hawaiian music. All by
itself at 13:28, and good level, while earlier at 13:14 cochannel to a
domestic call-in show. KYNO Fresno, CA ID'd at 12:30 when there was no
sign of the Hawaiian.
1053: Korean jammer well heard at 13:10
1650: Pretty dominant Marine weather broadcast for the Pacific coastal
waters. Not sure whether there's just one transmitter or several.
That's it from glorious Cannon Beach where it's quite warm and sunny
this afternoon. Cheers! .........Walt Salmaniw, Victoria, BC
