I've had a really hard time with CA here in Alexandria, VA too -- some peeps out of KFI in a pile of 'stuff' on 640 and not much else UNTIL ... I started working with a phased BOG system, as designed by Neil Kazaross.

Most weekend nights now I drive our van over to a field behind the local rec center - Chinquapin - near T.C. Williams HS, park in my favorite spot and run a pair of wires out on the ground at around 230 deg az -- 500 // 380 feet.  Hook 'em up to a quantum phasor, null WBZ, set up Perseus for TOH recording and ...

Granted, this was only one night out of about a dozen but I also get much better reception of Mexican stations using this BOG system than 'at home' about a half-mile away using a 4-element Wellbrook array.
