Hello All,
Asiatic signals in general were slightly stronger than yesterday, but still
nothing to shout about. The only unusual signal was a booming 1053-Korean
Jammer around 1320, an S9 signal that was way out of character for such
modest propagation. In light of recent tension on the Korean peninsula, maybe
there has been a power increase for this bizarre station? It was easily
audible on a stock ULR here this morning, the first time that has ever been
possible in Puyallup. Maybe this was part of what Nick heard on 1053?
The following were received on a C.Crane SWP Slider (7.5" loopstick)
inductively coupled to a 7.5' sided PVC tuned passive loop in the back yard:
594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan Fair-good NHK1 Japanese program at 1311
657 R. Pyongyang North Korea Typical buzzing signal and male-female
tirade, poor-fair
666 JOAB Osaka, Japan Fair signal at times, in and out around 1316
738 BEL2 Penghu, Taiwan Poor Chinese audio around 1307, but best
signal so far
this young season
747 JOIB Sapporo, Japan Fair-good in KXL splatter; best overall of
the Japanese this morning
828 JOBB Osaka, Japan Weak audio in and out around 1319
1053 Korean Jammer (Unknown Location) Huge S9 signal at 1320, the
strongest TP so far this
young season. Best ever heard here

1134 JOQR Tokyo, Japan Like the past few mornings, decent Japanese
audio in and out
1566 HLAZ Jeju, South Korea Good Japanese audio during religious
program around 1310;
the best regular TP of the morning

1575 VOA Ban Rassom, Thailand Fair Asiatic language audio in and out
around 1258, but
weaker after the 1300 TOH (like yesterday)
For those ULR DXers (and others) who would like to hear the 1053-Korean
Jammer, it sounds kind of like a swarm of angry yellowjackets. It has been
heard by Richard Allen on a stock Sony SRF-T615 in Oklahoma, so it's worth a
try, even far inland.
73 and Good DX,
Gary DeBock
