Re: [IRCA] State Count and BOG question

As always Neil, thanks! Good advice. I love Sunset skip (not a morning
person) but usually not home in time to catch most of it. One day back
in 1986 on the Superadio (at LSS) I got the Elkhart AND Gary IN stations
on 1270 (separated by no more than 70 miles) and three years later got
Madison. None of that would be possible now, with WNDE 1260's IBOC.

I've been toying with the idea of getting 5-600' of wire and hooking it
to either my old DX-400 or newer S-350 and heading to the soccer fields,
near work. I do understand that both radios have built in antennas and
that it would interject some signals too but at least I could orient the
radio to compliment the BOG. I used the DX-400 with a Sanserino loop in
much the same way. Both radios have two terminals, which one would I
put the end of the BOG into (not using coax)? An old Hallicrafters that
I had as a kid had a similar A1 / A2 setup and a little metal "blade"
that would short out A2, if desired. Would plugging the BOG wire
directly into one would work and would I need to do a small jumper from
that one to the other one (A2)? Thanks.

Dave in Indy

I'll chime in here and say that trying to complete an entire state
(obviously one nearby for most of us) will challange both your DXing
skills
and your antenna skills. You'll become more proficient with sunset skip
DX
and also likely with sunrise skip and it may also be that you take that
ULR
of your's and get it just right to null that 50 kw pest and the desired
250
watter from the other side of your state is just copiable for 30 seconds

during their quick sign off.

Here in Barrington IL, Iowa has been completed for several years, and I

just completed WI. I need just a few for IL, and 4 for MN (northern
GYers)
and just a few for IN.

High school sports can be a big help in this endevor !
