J.D. and Willis,

Since the test consisted of sweep tones, Morse code IDs, what I call 
"stair step" tones (rising or falling pitch in discrete intervals 
rather than a continuous rise or drop as with sweep tones), voice 
announcements, etc., I'll bet Tom just made a typo in his original 
message when he wrote "staincase wave" for a "staircase wave," 
meaning the staircase or stair step tones.
