[IRCA] TP for 14 Nov from Victoria, BC

Started listening about 1410UT today, and though I wasn't wildly impressed at the time, I did come away with a better impression that Bruce did, and even than John did, when I think about the differential of our sites/antennas. Any morning that I hear Farda-1575 has a little bit going for it, though it has become fairly common in the mornings.

Some of my better loggings are probably due to the DX Fishbarrel way of looking at things. 576 and 603 for example were at their good strength very briefly, and I was able to pounce on them before they faded.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

576 Mayak; had heard the chimes fairly weakly on the half hour, then it faded up to good strength at 1434UT
594 JOAK
603 HLSA //558 w/CC talk underneath at 1447
639 CNR-1 //5030 at 1504UT
747 JOIB at 1508, mostly in the murk before
774 JOUB
828 JOBB
828 mystery mx, o/JOBB which had RR at the time //774 (to confuse the issue). This at 1437UT

reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker,
though often battling w/splash or noise):

279 R. Rossii
558 HLQH //603 both w/other stations underneath
738 two stations at 1502; I can't seem to snag the Korean that others are hearing here
936 likely Anhui at 1505UT w/CC talk
972 HLCA
1575 R. Farda o/VoA on north Flag at 1427; checked w/webstream
1575 VoA

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker

567 JOIK //594, but underpowered this morning
621 CC talk, not much hum
648 mx not //7355 or 6145 which had CC talk
675 presumed Vietnam, later on
945 CNR-1 //5030, but at 1505, there was another CC there as well...
1026 mx at 1507; no ideas
1287 JOHR (it was also still a good carrier at 1730; almost audio?, but then nose-dived)

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

531 JOQG //567
549 Mayak //576, maybe something else; hard to tell in 550 splat
585 not //594
657 presumed N. Korea
666 a mess, seemed //576 some of the time, so Mayak
918 two stations on channel?
954 presumed Japan
981 CNR-1 //5030
1008 could have been //5030; CNR-1 has been heard on this channel on the coast
1152
1188
1242, mix of 2 stations?
1251
1269
1503 JOUK //594

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

1566

best wishes,

Nick
