[IRCA] TP for 30 Dec from Victoria, BC

Quite poor, and very erratic morning. Listened on and off from 1440 to past 1600UT. There seemed to be signs of DU signals as well as the usual Asiatics, most obviously with EE inflected talk under JOUB-774, posssibly 3LO. Interestingly, NHK2 stations signed off at 1500UT this morning, not the 1540 or 1600 listed. Carriers were left on. (Perhaps there was some early new year's celebration in the studio)

pretty darn good audio (at least briefly):

774 JOUB at 1503UT s/off chimes
828 JOBB at same time as above; both these were always poorer than this, and 828 sometimes inaudible

reasonable audio at times during the period (though often battling w/splash or noise):

1287 JOHR at 1552UT only

not so reasonable audio, occasional words in splash or noise:

747 JOIB at 1501UT, s/off
945 CNR1 //5030 at 1535, not before (any audio heard before didn't seem //5030)
972 HLCA at 1457UT , big carrier

Burbles in the splatter and noise:

594 JOAK likely
639 Fiji per direction finding
702 DU? perhaps EE inflected talk...might have been //774 (after JOUB s/off), if so, 2BL
954 likely JOKR at 1554UT
1035 seemed DU direction

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 279, 567, 612 DU, 738 DU, 855 w/hum, 918, 1116 (Asiatic direction, not DU), 1188, 1269, 1566

best wishes,

Nick
