It was a classic late Fall Season morning here on Orcas Island. The
first two layers of Japanese were in and excellent at tune-in 80
minutes before dawn. By max dawn, they were down substantially, as
expected. The Chinese were mostly quite weak at tune-in, but were up
and doing well during dawn enhancement.
Below 1100, there were only five channels without at least threshold
audio at some point. From 1100 thru 1450, they were about 50% full.
The more interesting:
639 CNR1 was as loud as I've ever heard a Chinese broadcaster at
1510, just after SR.
720 The terminator is sloping enough now that KDWN Las Vegas is
totally wiped out by the sun well prior to LSR here, but I'm still
not hearing much on here most AMs
837 was doing especially well this morning, all morning. I got
fairly good TOH recordings at 1400 and 1500 and will hope that our
translator can hear the ID. I'm almost certain this is CNR5, not the
Harbin News Channel (our previous resident on this channel) The TOH
has the standard CNR time pips, the standard CNR fanfare, etc, and
the first recording that our translator listened to had features on
the Chinese Space Program.... more likely from a Taiwan Service than
from a local news channel (though not impossible from Harbin, I'll admit.)
1026 Beijing Public Radio was doing well this morning.
1395 and 1539 each had almost language recognition-level stations at
max dawn... I've never logged anything from here on either. 1395 is
especially intriguing.
Richard Allen had TPs again in Oklahoma at dawn.... MAN!!!
