Re: [IRCA] TPs for 23 July 2008: Mostly Australia and not Asiatic

Hi Walt,

Thank you for your daily reports from Cannon Beach, using your ICF-2010
and 80' long wire. They are very interesting, especially when comparing
them to my recent trips to Grayland with modified ICF-2010's (oversized
loopsticks).

In answer to your question about 891, during the two times I've had DU
audio on 891 at Grayland this summer, it has always been 5AN. One of the
times (July 9th) it was so strong that it was heard on two modified Ultralights
(SRF-39FP and Eton E100). Only once did I have a trace of another DU station
on 891 under 5AN (on June 30), but it was far too weak to ID, or even get
the format (as much as I wanted to hear horse racing).

My 891 experience with the portables at Grayland this summer apparently
was different from that of other DXers like John Bryant, who seemed to have
no problem occasionally hearing 4TAB on his Wellbrook array at the Grayland
Motel. Other DXers report that 4TAB has an amazingly strong signal for its 5
kw transmitting power.

                                                     73, Gary
