Barry, I would seriously consider a ground-independent antenna, since most of us do not have access to year-round good grounds (unlike Patrick!).  My favourite has been the 
broadband corner fed loop (a la Bruce Conti).  It's extremely flexible with regards to dimensions, and has been my antenna of choice now for a couple of years......Walt.
