[IRCA] remote controller question

As RCs get old and overused, they tend to require more and more effort for
some of the buttons to engage.

My question:  can I safely use a spray electric contact cleaner (such as
nexxtech's TUNER CONTROL, purchased at whatever Radio Shack is now called)
on the remore controller?

(Two of my DX quality radios have RCs, though happily neither of these are
yet at this stage . . . )
