Patrick, You may have to save your money and buy an HDTV set. Lots of problems with the converter boxes -- in areas with poor or average signal. Coverage of HDTV is only about HALF or 2/3rds of the Analog coverage area. In your 'fringe area" -- you might not have enough signal for the converter to work. You may need to buy a full HDTV set. And even then -- you might not get a great picture. -- Check out the local Radio Shack store. Check out the converter boxes and see how well their HDTV sets work -- in the store -- "over the air" without a cable feed. That will tell you alot about what the HDTV coverage is in the Astoria area. -- This applies to everyone on the list. Your area may or may not have a good "over the air" HDTV signal. Without a strong enough "over the air" signal -- a converter box is worthless. Even in a large Metro area like Seattle, Portland or Los Angeles -- some converter boxes are not providing a good HDTV picture. You may need to buy a
new antenna and taller mast -- just to make things work. And remember "If it's from Sony -- it's all bolony".
