Thx and don't tell them don't worry..I'm not crying to the FCC about a weekend malfunction and understand all is not perfect with computers.
As an example..KNZZ 1100 had similar issues and month or so ago. I alerted DXers so they could nab 'em and emailed their CE who said "thx" and fixed it. No need to alert the FCC or WTAM etc for an innocent and unintentinal equipment snafu.
But lets say KATQ is running 5 kW nights next Weds..and we start to doubt that things are unintentional esp, considering ur contact w/them

I'm betting th farm that it was an equipment malfunction.
They've had it happen before where themorning jock walks in to fire up the transmitter, the meters read Zero but it's been on all night.
Most likely, it's just a faulty remote control.
I'll pass along word when I get it as to what's up

Nice info and pix..methinks some malfunction prevented the switch to 49 w n/p and that they're //FM 100.1 although another freq was ment in addition.

I THINK the KATQ programming comes from ABC Radio, but I could be wrong.
The reason you won't hear any local liners spoken by the network jock coming out of/into songs or breaks is because they AREN'T PROGRAMMED into the computer.. the satelitte service is used as an after thought.
By the way, KATQ Radio FINALLY has a website at website at www.katqradio.com
And here are some pictures of our beloved KATQ: http://www.imt.net/~jabender/mvi/katq/index.htm
