[IRCA] Eastern beverage
I recorded overnight 1390 and the oldies station I heard earlier with
the 103.3 FM ID was a mix of two stations I believe. KRRZ ND was a
common visitor most TOH periods. I think MN was there also, plus some
SSer. Then at 0600 EDT, I could plainly hear a Black Gospel station in
the jumble that popped in and out, but no ID caught. Except for Salem OR
(less than 1 KW ND nights), everyone else is either lp or nulls the NW,
probably to protect old timer KSLM (then) with 5/1 KW for years many
years. I nabbed ME and SC in a mix back in the 90s when WEGP was
testing.
With the drop of the termination off the end, the beverage pattern is
beginning to remind me more on many frequenies of the old beverage. So
it may not be the elevation that has had the effect on the directivity,
but the change in termination. I will experiment more with resistance at
the end a bit later on, but right now I am enjoying the new directivity
of the wire, even with extra splash from the two Astoria statons. hi.
New observations, I find 1560 Burbank (Richland area) WA alone off the
beverage days in SS. Not strong but fair, no sign of KZIZ. KZIZ's signal
is just as poor as before off any antenna. 1600 KOHI has gained a bit of
signal at S9+5. 850-KHHO-Tacoma is better days now for some reason,
probably a side lobe. KPAM 860 now is the strongest metro Portland
station days, now close to S9+30. I have never seen that signal from any
Portland area station days that strong. 620-KPOJ, 750-KXL are both
around S9+20, about the same they were. 910 Portland is about S9+20 now.
they were S9+5 or 6. But last night I did noticed much more of a jumble
on many frequencies. Also Couer d' Alene ID was on top of Portland 1080.
Interesting changes.
