[IRCA] TPs Oct. 30
Conditions 90 minutes before dawn were abysmal... worst in a couple
of months, but it did get spottily better during dawn enhancement.
There has to be something going on with the sun... really weird
conditions. It was as if it was trying to be a really good Japanese
morning and there just wasn't enough gas in the tank. There were no
Chinese present (!) 756 which as been CNR1 lately was NHK Kumamoto;
945 was too poor to ID the language, but it clearly was not parallel
5030 as it has ben all season. Most of the normal JJ Big Guns were
there, but not all of them. Some were at decent levels at least
briefly, but many were not.
On the other hand, there were several JJs in at decent level that are
either rare here on Orcas, or not heard before from here.... The
756-JOGK NHK1, Kumamoto is rare here for me; 909-JOGB NHK2, Nagoya is
new for here on Orcas; 1017-JOLB NHK2 Fukuoka and 1089-JOHB NHK2
Sendai are both also rare visitors to Orcas Island; the 1386 NHK2
Synchros and 963 NHK1 Synchros (dominating the CNR Russian) were
there, too.... However, 531, 594, and 666 weren't there at all....
usually stalwarts of NHKdom.
Interesting morning.
John B.
