Re: [IRCA] Cheater term and the FCC

I have had a couple stations that have sent me an email and told me that
they have my report (and promised a verie) but still no verie after more
than a year. Two are hams and one used to be a good verifier. I don't think
it's because they are overloaded with work since they took the time to send
me an email. They could just as easily have sent me an email verie or
returned my prepared card.

I don't like to see the "Cheater" term used on the list. It's an accusation
of intentional illegal operation that is not necessarily true. There are
still a few people on the list that want to use the term and we will pay the
consequences for it. Unfortunately the few of us that collect veries are the
ones that will pay because it appears that a large part of the hobby has
turned into listeners with no contact with the radio stations.

When I see the term I think less of the individual that used it. I hear the
anger in there that some station is blocking one of their 117 domestic
frequencies on a particular night. I guess the whole band is clogged by one
station? Live in or near a big city and see how many channels are blocked.

I skip most of the posts now because there is too much negativity on the
list and very little DX. We've turned into a bunch of bitchy old men. For me
the radio hobby is for enjoyment and not to raise my blood pressure.

Enjoy DXing and remember your pest might be someones DX catch of the day.
