Hi Paul,
My guess is that they wanted a new frequency so they would not suffer
the QRM from XED & XEG, both on 1050 with high power. Plus, they may
have started out with 250 watts on 760 to get on the channel. Any more
power, they may have not gotten the CP being only one channel over from
KKOB that is directional to the West. I get the idea the station is on a
low budget and they may have had problems with the old 5 KWer, being off
a lot in the past and maybe they got a hold of a 250w rig for the
meantime. After all Tuba City is a very small town 250/60w is probably
plenty to cover their area. Just some guesses, but that part of AZ is
quite rural.
