Re: [IRCA] KOHI-1600's Underwhelming Signal

Patrick, Dennis and All,

KOHI's wispy daytime signal here in the south Puget Sound area seems
completely related to the "salt water effect." Driving inland, even for a few
miles, makes the S1 signal disappear completely, leaving only KVRI. It's a
very tough daytime catch here in Puyallup (4 miles from salt water), and it
took me 3 days to confirm it, before local sunset.

It would be most interesting to check KOHI's signal while driving the
I-5 freeway, from Portland to Seattle. My guess is that KOHI would disappear
somewhere around Centralia/Chehalis, and weakly reappear around Olympia, due
to the salt water enhancement.

Figuring that it would be hopeless, I haven't really tried to hear the
12 watt signal on night pattern, but will give it a decent try (if I can
tolerate more of KVRI's banging music). KVRI is extremely strong here at night,
and coming from the north, there is no way to null it out.

               73, Gary
