Re: [IRCA] Sony 2010 Prices

I owned or have owned the following portables/portatops in the past 15 years.

Eton E1
Grundig Sat 800
Grundig Sat 700
Sony 2010

I would give the nod to the E1 as the best all around radio of the group.

On MW it beats out the Sony 2010 by a small bug signifcant margin. The inclusion of Pass Band Tuning and 3 well chosen filter shapes as well as many other goodies make this a no brainer. The only thing that holds it back from being a runaway champ is the need for an outboard antenna (altho the whip does a suprisingly good job). I agree with George in that it comes darn close to being better than my Drake R8A.

On SW the Eton is a runaway winner. Sound is better, Synch is better, PBT, all the bells and whistles.

On FM (and this is important to me) its comes in second of the bunch by a small hair under the Sat 700 (which has narrower FM filters and RDS). The Sony 2010 is not good for any sort of FM dxng IMHO.
