Many thanks, John, though I bet you're now going to get a pile of
contributions saying "but, you didn't mention..."
Mine would be to add to John Bryant's bio, that he was one of the
driving forces behind "Proceedings", collections of peer-reviewed,
mainly technical, articles related to MW and SW DXing, that appeared
between 1988 and 1995. Much of that was Gordon Nelson class
material, and, I suspect affected the way that many DXers approached
the hobby in the years following.
And each individual club (including IRCA) has many unsung heroes that
have mainly contributed to the overall hobby via their club.
Of course, where does history cut off? There are folks doing things
today that I'm sure historians will regard as important, Bruce
Portzer's Pacific Asian log, Herman Boel's European/African Medium
Wave Guide for example.
And mentioning Herman brings up the fact that over the years, there
has been some pretty interesting hobby related stuff going on in
Europe as well, and given that the DX hobby, through the internet, is
now truly a worldwide activity, that history also is relevant to
North Americans.
Now, who among us is retired, historically inclined, and looking for
something to fill those idle hours, hi.
best wishes,
Nick
