Plaster Rock, New Brunswick
Application No. 2007-0079-1

Application by Astral Media Radio Atlantic Inc. (Astral) to amend the
licence
of the radio programming undertaking CIKX-FM Grand Falls, New Brunswick.

Astral proposes to convert its AM transmitter CJCJ-2 Plaster Rock to the
FM band to broadcast the programming of CIKX-FM Grand Falls, in order to
serve the population of Plaster Rock.

The transmitter would operate on frequency 91.7 MHz (channel 219LP) with
an effective radiated power of 50 watts (non-directional antenna/antenna
height of 25 metres).

According to Astral, the existing AM transmitter CJCJ-2 Plaster Rock is
inefficient, worn-out and difficult to maintain. It also stated that the
transmitter site is located in a low lying area. Consequently, the
proposed
FM transmitter requires relocation to an area which has elevation for
line-of-sight coverage. Astral further stated that its sole concern is
the quality of its signal and that the proposed coverage for the new FM
transmitter is roughly the same as the current CJCJ-2 transmitter.

Astral is requesting permission to simulcast the programming of CIKX-FM
Grand Falls on the new FM transmitter and on the AM transmitter CJCJ-2
Plaster Rock for a period of three months from the date of
implementation
of the new FM transmitter.

Astral is also requesting to amend the licence of CIKX-FM Grand Falls
by deleting
the AM transmitter CJCJ-2 Plaster Rock effective at the end of the
simulcast period.
